Bestwood is a small village located in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles north of Nottingham city centre and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The village has a rich history, dating back to the 12th century when it was known as "Bistewode". Today, Bestwood is a peaceful and picturesque village that offers a range of amenities and attractions for visitors to enjoy.

One of the main attractions in Bestwood is Bestwood Country Park. This 650-acre park is a haven for wildlife and offers visitors the chance to explore woodland, heathland, and grassland habitats. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and badgers, as well as a range of bird species. There are also several walking and cycling trails throughout the park, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Another popular attraction in Bestwood is Bestwood Winding Engine House. This historic building was once used to power the winding gear that brought coal to the surface from the nearby Bestwood Colliery. Today, the engine house has been restored and is open to the public as a museum. Visitors can learn about the history of the colliery and see the original winding engine in action. The museum also features exhibits on the local mining industry and the lives of the miners who worked there.
