The name Woolfold is believed to have originated from the wool trade that was prevalent in the area during the 17th and 18th centuries.

One of the most notable landmarks in Woolfold is the St. John the Evangelist Church. The church was built in 1839 and is a Grade II listed building. It is a beautiful example of Victorian architecture and features stained glass windows and a bell tower. The church is still in use today and is a popular destination for visitors to the village.
