Stand is a small town located in the county of Lancashire, England. It is situated on the River Irwell and is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bury. The town has a rich history dating back to the 13th century when it was known as Stan. It was a rural area until the Industrial Revolution when it became a center for cotton spinning and weaving. Today, Stand is a thriving community with a population of around 13,000 people.

One of the most notable landmarks in Stand is the Whitefield War Memorial. It was built in 1921 to honor the soldiers from the area who died in World War I. The memorial is made of Portland stone and features a bronze statue of a soldier standing at attention. It is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the people of Stand during the war.

Another important feature of Stand is its green spaces. The town has several parks and open spaces, including Philips Park and Whitefield Park. These areas provide a place for residents to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Philips Park is particularly popular with families as it has a playground, a lake, and a miniature railway. Overall, Stand is a charming town with a rich history and plenty of amenities for its residents.
